Which cookies and browser storage keys Skautik sets, what each one does, and how long it lasts. Browser local storage is included because it raises the same questions as a cookie even though it is not technically one.
Este documento se publica únicamente en inglés. Una traducción sería un segundo texto que podría leerse de otra manera, así que la versión en inglés es la que se aplica.
A cookie is a small file a site stores in your browser and reads back on later requests. Local storage does much the same thing but is only readable by page scripts and is never attached to a network request. Both persist between visits unless you clear them.
We group them by what they do rather than by who sets them, since that is what determines whether you can turn them off.
These make the platform work and cannot be switched off. Without them you cannot sign in, submit a form safely, or have your privacy choices remembered. They do not require consent under the ePrivacy Directive because you have asked for the service they deliver.
| Name | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Session token | Keeps you signed in and authorises API requests made on your behalf. | Cookie | Session, or 30 days if you stay signed in |
| CSRF token | Confirms a form submission came from the page it claims to, not another site. | Cookie | Session |
| Load balancing | Keeps a request on the server already handling your session. | Cookie | Session |
| skautik_consent | Remembers whether you accepted or refused analytics, so we do not ask repeatedly. It holds one word and no identifier. | Cookie | 6 months |
These remember your preferences so the product behaves consistently between visits. Declining them leaves the platform fully usable, but it will forget your location, your view settings, and what you have already seen.
| Name | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| skautik-geo | Stores the approximate location used to centre the map and order nearby results, so it survives a reload. | Local storage | Until cleared |
| Search preferences | Remembers list or map view, sort order, and panel sizes. | Local storage | Until cleared |
| Recently viewed | Powers the recently viewed row and avoids re-showing dismissed listings. | Local storage | 90 days |
We use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google Ireland Limited, to count visits and see which parts of Skautik are used. It is the only analytics product on the site.
It sets no cookies until you accept them. The tag loads with storage switched off, which is Google's consent mode. In that state it can report that a page was read, and it cannot tell that the reader is the same person who read another page yesterday. Accepting turns on the two cookies in the table below; refusing leaves it as it is.
| Name | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Set by Google Analytics to tell one browser from another, so that two visits from you are not counted as two people. | Cookie | 2 years |
| _ga_<property id> | Set by Google Analytics to hold the state of the current visit, so that a page read after a pause is not counted as a new arrival. | Cookie | 2 years |
What is sent: the address of the page, the page title, the site language, the referring address, and the approximate location, device type and browser Google derives from the request. Alongside those we send named events for the things the product is for: a search and how many results it returned, a listing opened, a listing saved, an enquiry started, an account created, a plan chosen, and a subscription paid for.
Completed payments are reported from our servers rather than from your browser, because a payment is confirmed after you have left the payment page. That report carries the amount, the currency and the plan. It carries the analytics identifier from your visit only if you accepted analytics; if you did not, the sale is counted with nothing attached to it that could lead back to you.
What is not sent: your name, your email address, the contents of your saved searches, or the text of an enquiry. We do not use analytics to build advertising profiles, every report is flagged as not for advertising personalisation, and we do not join analytics data to your enquiries or saved searches for any purpose other than diagnosing a fault you reported.
Google acts as our processor for this and processes the data on servers in the United States as well as the European Union. The privacy policy sets out the safeguard we rely on for that transfer and how long the data is kept.
Skautik sets no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. We do not operate an ad network, we do not embed third-party ad pixels, and we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising, as explained in the privacy policy.
Some embedded services set their own cookies when you interact with them: mapping tiles, the payment processor during checkout, and error monitoring. These are governed by the provider's own policy, and we limit them to what the feature needs.
The analytics cookies above are set by Google in the skautik.com domain rather than in Google's own, which means they are readable only by this site. They are still Google's cookies and are described by Google's policy for sites that use its services.
Where a listing embeds media hosted elsewhere, that host may set a cookie when the media loads. We prefer providers that support a no-cookie mode and use it where it exists.
When we add or remove a cookie we update this page and the effective date above. A new non-essential category is not set until you have had the chance to consent to it. Questions go to privacy@skautik.com.
